Why do people go out and make New Year’s Resolutions?

It’s common knowledge that this is the biggest scam we can commit unto ourselves, so why do we do it anyway?

It’s simple. We look for a way to put things off even longer. We make such a big event of making this change in our lives, we broadcast it on Facebook and Twitter. “I’m going to get a girlfriend (or boyfriend) for 2011″, “I’m going to lose 95 pounds for 2011″, or “I’m going to start getting in shape for 2011!” January 1st is just a day like any other, sorry but it’s the truth. The sun rises and the sun sets.

It’s ridiculous to think that we need an event of a day to start making a change in our lives, when in reality the change should be now if we want it to happen.

If you want your life to start changing, then start. You don’t need to wait for the new year to come in. It only leaves you with the tendency to put things off for the following year, then the year after that and the year after that. Next thing you know, you’ve gone 10 years without making any positive change in your life. Why do you think New Year’s resolutions never follow through? Because the people who set out to make these so-called “Resolutions” were never committed in the first place!

By the way, it may seem like I’m talking all this big talk about making changes. I’m no hypocrite and I’m just as equal as you. Yesterday I implemented a new training regiment and I changed my meal plan. Yes, I too am making a change in my life and I’ve already started. Where you at?

Life is about challenge and adaptation (or change). Making an event out of it will only last as long as an event.

However… Lifestyle is what it’s all about! Not a one day event trying to do something you were never really committed to in the first place.

Whether you’re on a weightloss journey, looking for your significant other, or simply in search of freedom then it’s imperative that you start today! Tomorrow’s are not guaranteed. You don’t have control over what happens tomorrow. But you can control what happens today. You can control your ‘right now’. You can start living today, or you can live tomorrow, or next year.

I made the decision to go on a journey in putting on 10-15 pounds. Then I started my journey. I didn’t wait for 2011 to roll in. No parades, no fireworks, no celebrations. Starting something shouldn’t be glorified. However, helping others can definitely be celebrated!

In the next coming weeks, my body will be going through a transformation and I’d like for you to join me on this journey. Find your health, find your happiness and find your Life.
